More updates

I switched the downloads again - this week, the video is Take It Easy from Central Park (1972) and the audio is Smuggler's Blues from Yokohama, Japan (1995).

I created a new page detailing the compilations Frey songs have appeared on. Before I compiled this information, I had no idea the Heat Is On had been on so many of those things - it even managed to get included on "Movie's Greatest Love Songs" (?!)

I added information on a few more guest appearances, including the Jake Trout and the Flounders CD where Frey actually appeared on a little video that was on the enhanced CD as well as on an interview snippet. He even sang a verse of the parody entitled Struggler's Blues. I included snippets for download.

I also added details on a few more corporate shows Frey has done, including his concert for the State Farm convention in Las Vegas in September (great photos!) and a Hawaiian Party of Two show from 2005 (more photos)!

Forgotten Frey Sighting - Party of Two at Tiger Woods Benefit

I announced this a while back, but now that it's actually about to happen, I almost forgot to put it under "Frey Sightings." Glenn Frey and Joe Walsh will be playing at a Tiger Woods benefit this Saturday (Oct. 7) in Anaheim, California. No more tickets available though!

Download Rotation and New Information

Glenn Frey and Joe Walsh will be playing at another Tiger Woods benefit on October 7! It's in Anaheim, California. According to a recent news release, tickets start at $750. Find out more information on the official Tiger Woods Foundation Site or call (714) 816-1806.

More and more press is coming out about the new Eagles album thanks to Joe and Billboard.com. "The first half of next year" as a probable release time sounds good to me!

Now, for site updates. Barbara attended the Frey private show in Milwaukee and wrote a great review of it. Going back a little further, Jay sent in a few comments on a Party of Two show he saw back in 1993 in Hyannis, Massachusetts.

I also added some comments by Frey on On the Border to the song page in Quotable Frey, and a new Fun Fact that Frey was voted "Most Likely to Inhale" at Dondero High School. Of course, the sitemap has been updated for all this stuff!

Can't forget the downloads for this week - an MP3 of The One You Love from the Del Mar Fair in 1985 and a video of Take It Easy from Japan in 1995.

Frey Sightings
  • Frey's comments on hybrids at the Michigan show didn't come out of the blue. As this 2003 article states, he and his wife Cindy have been involved with Laurie David's anti-SUV (and other environmentally harmful vehicles) crusade for a while now. Thanks to SS for the link.
  • Miami Vice's incorporation of music such as Smuggler's Blues is blamed for popularizing the marketing of music through television programs in this article in the Age
  • This article in the Denver Post asks why the Eagles' Greatest Hits is the best-selling album of all time

Back from Pebble Beach - HOLY CRAP - and downloads

Well guys, I got back from Pebble Beach and I have to say that Glenn Frey is an awesome guy. He signed my Longbranch Pennywhistle album, gave me a signed golf ball, and was just really kind to me and my friend the whole time we were there (see photos of my goodies here). It's a long story that I posted in detail on Flip City, but suffice it to say he is definitely worthy of our fandom! While I didn't get a photo with him, here are some professional ones. And he was only two strokes off of the cut!

Also, put up new downloads on the multimedia page: my favorite live version of Peaceful Easy Feeling from the second night of the Hell Freezes Over taping, and a video of Outlaw Man from Seattle 1976

Another multimedia update and more Party of Two fun in Hawaii

Updated the multimedia page again - as you guys may guess, I'm trying to change the downloads on a quasi-weekly basis now that I'm back from vacation. This week, I put up an .mpg file of Desperado Frey-style from Dublin 1992. It's a very passionate rendition - I love it. Also, I put up an MP3 of After Hours from the Royal Oak 2000 solo concert. I know it's not the best quality audio, but it's an unreleased song that I believed he never played in concert before or since (except doing it on a radio program once). Definitely worth a listen - it's gorgeous. I wish he had released it.

Frey Sightings
  • Check this out guys! Glenn and Joe did karaoke at Japanese restaurant while in Hawaii! It's in the second paragraph under "Sight 'ems" here.
  • Glenn and Joe's show also enabled golfer Tim Petrovic to make a pun. As stated in about the middle of this article, "The gusts had so wearied competitors that a day after rockers Glenn Frey and Joe Walsh performed a Friday night bash for golfers and their families at the Ritz-Carlton, Tim Petrovic told GolfWorld, 'That's two more eagles than we've seen in two days.'"

Updated multimedia - meanwhile, Frey & Walsh play for PGA in Hawaii

Updated the multimedia page with a video of the BBC 1973 outtake "Out of Control" (Awesome clip except for some blips in the last few seconds). Also, an MP3 of The Heat is On from Rama, Ontario 2005.

In the news, the Party of Two is revived for Golfers in Hawaii (see first Frey Sighting). Lucky guys!

Frey Sightings

  • Glenn and Joe did a show for the PGA in Hawaii last Friday, as reported by this article (the second item).
  • The Eagles also wind up with having both Farewell1 and Hell Freezes Over in Australia's top 5 selling Music DVDs of 2005 as reported here. Feel the Aussie love!
  • The Eagles' concert in Salinas is No. 11 on the Salinas Californian's Top Stories of 2005, right after the opening of a new movie theater. Apparently not too much happens in Salinas.
  • A Frey-related pun used to diss Canadian boo-ers here
  • An interview with Eagles hairstylist here
