On the Loose with Downloads

Added an MP3 of the Frey/Tempchin song On the Loose. Glenn doesn't sing it, but since he co-wrote it and it's out of print, I thought it would be of interest.

I also made a new wallpaper from a photo I found in an old Takamine ad.

And finally, I rotated the downloads. The video this week is Peaceful Easy Feeling off of the BBC 1973 show. It's a fat file, but very good quality. The audio is another song from Yury: Frey doing You Belong to the City on the Mark and Brian radio show.

The Downtrodden Working Man

I arrived back in Indiana to find that Yury from Italy has sent me a real treasure - a slower version of Working Man with alternate lyrics which express sad resignation rather than the celebration of the album track. I've written up a Working Man (alternate version) lyric page, or you can click here to download the alternate version of Working Man. Yury also sent me a couple other rarities I will put up soon. Thank you very much, Yury!

More updates

I switched the downloads again - this week, the video is Take It Easy from Central Park (1972) and the audio is Smuggler's Blues from Yokohama, Japan (1995).

I created a new page detailing the compilations Frey songs have appeared on. Before I compiled this information, I had no idea the Heat Is On had been on so many of those things - it even managed to get included on "Movie's Greatest Love Songs" (?!)

I added information on a few more guest appearances, including the Jake Trout and the Flounders CD where Frey actually appeared on a little video that was on the enhanced CD as well as on an interview snippet. He even sang a verse of the parody entitled Struggler's Blues. I included snippets for download.

I also added details on a few more corporate shows Frey has done, including his concert for the State Farm convention in Las Vegas in September (great photos!) and a Hawaiian Party of Two show from 2005 (more photos)!

Strange Weather Interview Audio; New Photo Page: Downloads

Kate J. sent me a copy of a Strange Weather promotional interview - I put it up for download and also put up a transcription for those who'd rather read it.

WitchyMummy also let me know about some photos of the recent Frey show in Florida on a photo wire service, and with their arrival, I decided we had enough to make a Prelude to Obscurity Era photo page. I did this in spite of the fact that "Prelude to Obscurity Era - July 2006-Present" sounds a bit pessimistic! But hey, he's been using that to describe his solo career since 1982, so there's not too much bite left in it.

Of course, as usual, I have new downloads for this week. The video is Sexy Girl from Tokyo; the audio is Smuggler's Blues from Minneapolis 1995.

P.S. This isn't technically Frey info but I had to add - just saw the James Gang in Cleveland and they rocked the house hard-core. I highly recommend going if you appreciate guitar genius, although don't expect Eagles songs or even an Eagles concert vibe. A James Gang show is a whole 'nother animal - one that's a lot wilder.

One Lonely Guy

I got the movie The Lonely Guy a couple days ago. It's OK - I got a few good laughs out of it before it got bogged down by the complete lack of chemistry between its leads and the lameness of their "Love story." Should've stuck to the jokes about things like lonely guys getting dogs to attract women and finding out the doggie gets all the love. Why, you may ask, am I talking about some old Steve Martin film in this entry? Because it ends with a nice song co-written by Glenn, which I proceeded to rip to MP3. Download it here if you're curious - it's sung by Max Carl.

...and more downloads

This week, I put up an .mpg of Glenn doing "Slow Down" in Tokyo for the Allnighter tour. I think that's Christopher Cross with him but I'm not sure. The quality of the video is not the greatest, though. I'd give it about a C-. As far as the audio, it's an .mp3 of Ol' 55 from Springfield in 1975. You know, that song Glenn kept saying for Millennium interviews that they'd never played live. Oops! Download them on the Glenn Frey/Eagles Multimedia Download page.

Also, I made a page for random fun downloads that will stay up. Not sure what I'm going to put on it yet, except I put up Glenn's appearance on the 1985 MTV awards and a couple other things. Check it out here!

Finally, Paige informed L&M about a petition one can sign to get Glenn a star on a "walk of fame" in Michigan. Details here.
